WELCOME
Teresa Yates and Nicki Newport are the design duo of Embellish Interiors on Daniel Island, SC. A love of design, good food and life in the low country led them to start their business in 2011. Teresa’s style can be described as transitional with a modern coastal flair. A style that feels collected over time. Nicki has a style that is relaxed yet sophisticated and inviting. Together they embrace their clients personalities to help them achieve their homes greatest potential.
Teresa studied business at East Carolina University and then went back for a degree in Interior Design. She worked in the kitchen cabinetry industry for over ten years. Nicki has a background as a Pre-School Owner and Elementary teacher. A common passion for interior design combined with their attention to detail and versatility with projects of all scope and size has made this partnership a success.

Favorite movie you could watch over and over
Shakespeare in Love

Comfort Food
Chips and Salsa

Color Combo
Blue and Green

Room to decorate and why
Living Room because it makes the biggest
difference in a family’s life – we can organize,
warm up and simplify.

First design memory
My Mom let me design my room and bathroom after all
my sisters left. I wallpapered the bath dark green and
made my room all white with blue accents…
Hence my favorite color combo.

Most luxurious item in your house
Its got to be the Lancaster Customworks sectional in
Velvet. It’s is so comfortable and soft- it has
been described by a visitor as a “cloud”

Best bargain in your house
The large piece of art I got out of Olivia’s garage

If Embellish Interiors had a band
what instrument would you play?

I’d be a guitarist that goes away for a bit then loudly
interjects itself into the piece

If you weren’t a designer what would you be doing?
I’d go back to painting as long as I could paint
in Europe while traveling and eating

Most exciting part of a design project
The moment when you and the client connect
and agree on a direction- I always get the chills
when it looks and feels right

What does your signature style include?
It includes all the large pieces remaining neutral
and adding color and contrast with the details.

Stealing Home

Comfort Food
Pasta with Meatballs

Color Combo
Blue and Green

Room to decorate and why
Outdoor living areas or screen porch because
it’s one of the best parts of living in the South.
We gain another whole entertainment area.

First design memory
I couldn’t work inside the cramped spaces of the
Barbie dream house, so I would use Lincoln Logs to make
floor plans and take all the furniture and place it in the
rooms. I also learned a lot from my Mom who would
plot, plan, budget and then redo an entire room
while my Dad was on a trip!

Most luxurious item in your house
My Robert Abbey Bling Chandelier in my dining room.
It makes me happy every time it see it

Best bargain in your house
The pub table we bought at the Red Balloon Sale

If Embellish Interiors had a band
what instrument would you play?
I’d be a back up dancer or the manager!

If you weren’t a designer what would you be doing?
I would be a photographer, author or an Art historian.
Something I could do while traveling and eating.

Most exciting part of a design project
Sourcing the job – I get paid to shop! And after the installation
day when you know all the planning is worth the end result

What does your signature style include?
Cool coastal colors, detailed styling of the tables,
bookshelves and plenty of good lighting
