Hey there, its me Poe. The Embellish Girls have asked me to guest blog again and I have decided to challenge them to think of one word that can replace the idea of a resolution for the new year. They need to each pick a word that they want to focus on in 2017.
One word that describes how they want to feel or how they want to live over the next 52 weeks.
Nicki
The first word that popped into my mind is SLOW. Having children that are 13 and 15 makes me want time to slow down. They are busy and I want to have simple moments with them and learn to enjoy whatever time I get with them. Translating SLOW to my professional world would mean focusing on finding bigger projects that take a longer amount of time so I can build relationships with our clients and give them my best work. I have learned over the past few busy years that projects requiring our services from the beginning to the end are my favorite and that having SLOW periods at work actually help me grow our business in other ways.
Teresa
The first world that popped into my mind is FASCINATING. I want to have a FASCINATING year in 2017 that includes traveling to Peru to celebrate a milestone birthday. Life goes fast so why not make it FASCINATING? As far as translating FASCINATING to working at Embellish Interiors that would mean that I want new experiences that will help me continue to enjoy the type of work we do.
Here are a few words to look over so you can choose your one word for 2017…
This is the first of a series of posts about how we work with clients who are not in the Charleston Area. Just because because we are in the “843” doesn’t mean we cant work with you!
Our client reached out to us on November of 2014 and we measured and started to document what was staying and what was going from her beautiful home on the South Shore of Massachusetts. Our clients were suffering from a little case of Design Paralysis and in some desperate need of Embellish Girl Magic! The task will be large for us but extremely exciting. So keep on scrolling because we’re showing you a little peak of the following rooms before the Embellish girls take over:
The Great Room included a large sectional and not much else going on…
Don’t worry, that’s all about to change!

Great room before showing front windows.
Out client requested that they wanted this sun-room to have more of an “adult seating” area.
Sun-room Before. She started getting rid of furniture to get ready for the transformation.

As for the dining room area, the client’s requested that they wanted a grown up and more glamorous space that will seat more guests for the holidays…

In the office (which is the first room when you enter the home) their request was for more office/desk work space for the whole family.

Stay tuned to watch the process of distance design in action!
The One Room Challenge is complete! This has been a fun experience and we’d like to first start off with thankingLinda from Calling it Home for letting us participate!
Our clients wrote this great note about the end result of their dining room: “We absolutely love our new and improved dining room, and the whole house! But what we love most is Nicki and Teresa’s awareness of our art, and the sensitivity to make it the backbone of the design. In doing so, we feel that they have made our house a work of art.”
We are always excited about the pictures so here they are..
We styled the table with some of the clients things and then some goodies of our own such as a Fiddle Leaf Fig to the space!
And did you notice how well the table turned out??
We were able to find a fabulous mirror locally at GDC Home. Whew-hoo!
Through this journey we had some bumps in the road (which we new would happen) ,but we would not change one thing about this experience. It has been an amazing transformation for our client’s home.
Thanks to everyone for keeping up with our amazing journey through the One Room Challenge!
Well, it’s definitely looking better-wouldn’t you say?!
This week, the chairs have arrived and they are done inKRAVET DENMAN CLAY and CRYPTON SKY LINEN FABRIC. Still missing the table though! Hopefully it will be here for the reveal next week…fingers crossed!
We began to hang some of our clients art work, but we’re puzzled on whether we should move the buffet to the back wall as well as how we will style the buffet in the end.
Welcome back everyone! We are finally making progress! This week (as you can see in the picture below) we’re having a bit more help- the installer and seamstress are working hard in this dining room area to create our vision. We chose the Lacefield Designs Malta Apricot for the window curtains and we sore so excited with this decision for the room. […]
